The fifth annual Israel Defense Exhibition (ISDEF) started on Monday and is being held until Wednesday in Tel Aviv.

ISDEF is a military and police tradeshow that offers the best platform to create business opportunities between leading world manufacturers and prospective clients in the Israeli Defense industry. The show annually attracts top key players, political and government figures.
ISDEF started as a private show for clients of TAR Ideal Concept, a company which imports defense materials for Israel’s security forces. For the last three years, ISDEF has been open to the local and international industries from over 60 countries.
According to TAR’s CEO Tomer Avnon, “50 percent of this show is international companies and 50 percent is local companies, which introduce the latest development in technology.”
“We are very happy to have the fire brigades and the first aid medical care participating,” Avnon said. “Everybody is here to exhibit their best technologies.”
The would-be clients of the products presented in ISDEF, Avnon explained, are governments. The products are geared to everything from special commando units to home front units charged with taking care of major disasters such as earthquakes, tsunamis and missile attacks.
Despite the many boycotts of Israel by companies and individuals worldwide, Avnon said that the show has not been affected.
“We’re happy to say that nobody canceled,” he said. “This year, we had very official and high-ranking delegations from different countries. We have a delegation from China – high-ranking officials for whom this is the first visit to Israel in ten years.”
“We are very proud to be serving the local industry,” he added, expressing hopes that Israel’s largest defense industry companies will join the show next year.
“This year, you’ll find here only the small and medium-sized companies, but I hope that next year this show will become a major event for the entire Israeli defense industry,” Avnon concluded.
